What We Know

Bright green cabinet with positive messages, yellow roof, hanging bulbs, next to a pink unicorn cutout in a garden setting.

Here's what we know when someone visits the pantry:

That we have a visitor.

Here’s what we DON’T know:

Whether they’re taking items, leaving items, or both.

Whether they’re visiting for themselves or someone else.

Whether they’re taking food for one person or many.

Whether they’ve visited before or not.

Whether they have their own transportation or are borrowing/renting/ride

sharing/Uber-ing.

Whether they’re able to visit regularly or have barriers to getting here.

Whether their cabinets are COMPLETELY empty or just low.

Whether they’re local or coming from a long distance.

Whether they have other access to food resources such as SNAP, a food bank, or

the ability to purchase at a grocery store.

Whether their need is temporary or ongoing.

Whether this is their first time needing assistance ever.

Whether they’re comfortable or uncomfortable coming here.

Whether they have a safe, stable home.

Really anything beyond the fact that they’re here.

That’s it. That’s all we know. It’s all ANY of us know. We can make up stories or assume we know things about our neighbors who visit, but the truth is we don’t know

AND it’s none of our business.

That is the beauty of the Little Free Pantry.
